There is no substitute for a feeling of belonging.
Mission
Create a community where people living with physical challenges can live their own best life and achieve well-being and fulfillment - whatever that means for them.
Vision
An enriched living experience for each person through living in the right place, supported by the right people, following the right principles and practices.
Values
A good day, everyday, for each person.
The Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba (CPMB) is initiating the build of a top-shelf assisted living facility for adults with physical disabilities to belong – a space that has never been created. CoHabit uses an enriched living model for supporting the individuals who live there.
When you are part of a community, you feel cared for as well as needed. Knowing that others depend on you, is a reason to get up in the morning. That feeling gives you a greater sense of purpose.
Three values form the heart of our project:
Village Mindset: Everyone contributes to the home and looks out for one another with a spirit of inclusion and friendship.
Empowered Villagers: An accessible communal home for adults living with physical disabilities will address the systemic issue of loneliness and meaningful purpose in life. This model is developed in response to rising concerns among families and caregivers, that the current approach for supporting adults is insufficient. By leveraging a highly individualized approach to care that integrates multiple services into a single-coordinated package, CoHabit will provide a higher standard for those in our community.
Collective Trust: CoHabit will be a safe and dignified home filled with opportunities to create an enriched life. Currently, these individuals have fallen between the cracks within the system—they are “locked-out of living”! CoHabit will partner with local businesses and learning institutions and others...to provide meaningful opportunities thereby creating a purposeful life.
